Global (170 countries) eSIM plans

Every plan is data only, priced in US dollars, with no contract and nothing to return.

Our picks

Three plans we would buy ourselves, by the trip you are taking. Every plan we sell is listed below.

  • Short trip

    10.5 GB

    1.5 GB a day

    7 days

A week or so away: maps, messages, rides and the odd video call.

    $1.71 per GB

  • Long trip

    22.5 GB

    1.5 GB a day

    15 days

Two weeks or more, with room for photos, streaming and work email.

    $1.33 per GB

Fixed data

One allowance for the whole trip, used at your own pace.

Daily data

A fresh allowance every day, slower above it until the next day.

Countries covered

One eSIM works in every one of them, with no swap at the border.

Which plan fits your trip

  • A one-day plan with 0.6 GB, for a layover or a single day in a country you are passing through.
  • Daily data, 1.5 GB a day for 7 or 15 days. Suits a multi-country trip with steady use every day.
  • Fixed data, 5 GB for 30 days. Suits a long trip with light use: maps, messaging and the odd photo.

Your allowance is shared across every country on the list: no separate quota per country. See fixed, daily or unlimited for how each type behaves.

When a global plan makes sense

A global plan is the simple choice when a trip crosses several regions: Europe then Asia, a cruise with ports in many countries, or a business trip with stops on three continents. For a trip to one country or one region, that country's own plan or a regional plan such as Europe or Asia Pacific is usually better value for the same data.

Countries to check

The list is long but not complete. Check it before you buy if your trip includes a smaller island nation, a territory, or a country where networks are restricted. On a cruise, the plan works when the ship is in port or close to shore on a land network; at sea, ships use their own satellite service, which roaming eSIMs do not cover.

Before you fly

  1. Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked: the 30-second check.
  2. Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android.
  3. When you land, switch data roaming on for the eSIM line only.

Networks in Global (170 countries)

The plan connects to a local partner network in each covered country, so data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. Coverage follows the local networks: strong in the cities, thinner in remote areas. Want to know which network a plan uses in a given country? Ask us at support@esimlounge.com.

How to install your eSIM

Install it at home before you fly, then switch it on when you land.

  1. Check your phone

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked. Most phones from the last few years do.

  2. Scan the QR code

Scan the code from your email while you still have Wi-Fi at home. It takes about two minutes.

  3. Switch on when you land

Turn on the eSIM line and data roaming for it. Keep your usual SIM for calls and texts if you like.

Global (170 countries) eSIM questions

Do I need a new eSIM in each country?

No. One install covers every country on the list. Your phone joins a local partner network automatically when you arrive.

Does it work on a cruise ship?

In port and near the coast, when the phone can reach a land network in a covered country. At sea the ship uses its own satellite network, which the eSIM does not cover; keep data roaming off on your usual SIM to avoid the ship's charges.

Is a global plan cheaper than a country plan?

Usually not for a single country. A country or regional plan gives more data for the money; a global plan is worth it when a trip crosses several regions.

Will I keep my phone number?

Yes. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and the eSIM carries your mobile data. Keep data roaming off on your usual SIM to avoid roaming fees.

When does the plan start?

On most plans, the days start counting when the eSIM first connects to a network in a covered country, not when you install it.
