Which Uzbekistan plan fits your trip

Uzbekistan plans are daily data. The plan cards above show the days and data on sale:

  • 0.6 GB a day covers maps, messages and train tickets at the lowest price.
  • 1.5 GB a day adds photos, video calls and uploading from the Registan. Most visitors pick this one.

See fixed, daily or unlimited for how each type behaves. Going on to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan? Uzbekistan's own plans cover Uzbekistan only; check the global plans further down for one install across Central Asia.

Landing in Tashkent

Most international flights arrive at Tashkent's Islam Karimov airport, with some into Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench for Khiva. Install the eSIM at home while you are on your own Wi-Fi, then turn on data roaming for the eSIM line once you are off the plane. You can then book a ride or message your hotel before you reach the exit. Yandex Go is the usual ride-hailing app in Tashkent and the larger cities.

Trains between the Silk Road cities

The high-speed Afrosiyob trains link Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, and other services continue to Khiva. Tickets sell out, especially in spring and autumn, so book on your phone as soon as your dates are set and save the ticket offline. A working data connection is how you check times and platforms on the day.

Coverage

Coverage is good in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva and along the main rail lines. It thins out in the Kyzylkum desert on the long road between Bukhara and Khiva, in the Nuratau mountains, at yurt camps around Aydarkul lake and in Karakalpakstan towards the Aral Sea. Download offline maps before a desert drive or a night at a yurt camp.

Networks in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's mobile networks are Beeline, Ucell, Mobiuz and Uzmobile. A travel eSIM connects to one of them as a roaming partner, which is why data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. The partner network can differ from plan to plan, so check the plan details, or ask us at support@esimlounge.com before you buy.

How to install your eSIM

Install it at home before you fly, then switch it on when you land.

  1. Check your phone

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked. Most phones from the last few years do.

  2. Scan the QR code

Scan the code from your email while you still have Wi-Fi at home. It takes about two minutes.

  3. Switch on when you land

Turn on the eSIM line and data roaming for it. Keep your usual SIM for calls and texts if you like.

Uzbekistan eSIM questions

Is an eSIM cheaper than my own carrier's roaming in Uzbekistan?

Usually, by a wide margin. UK, US and Australian carriers typically charge a daily pass for each day you use your phone abroad, and over a week those passes cost several times more than a plan here. Check your own plan's roaming terms to compare.

Can I book Uzbekistan train tickets on my phone?

Yes. The high-speed Afrosiyob trains between Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara sell out in busy seasons, so book as soon as your dates are set and save the ticket to your phone.

Does it work in the desert between Bukhara and Khiva?

On parts of the road, but expect long gaps in the Kyzylkum desert. Download offline maps and save your bookings before you set off.

Can I use the same eSIM in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan?

Yes, if the countries are on the plan's list. Uzbekistan's own plans cover Uzbekistan only; the global plans on this page cover several countries in one install. Check the list on the plan before you buy.

Will I keep my phone number?

Yes. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and the eSIM carries your mobile data. Keep data roaming off on your usual SIM to avoid roaming fees from home.

When does the plan start counting days?

On most plans the days start when the eSIM first connects to a network in Uzbekistan, not when you install it. The plan details say how yours works.
