Koodo charges $16 a day for Easy Roam in the US and $18 a day in other countries (CAD), on each day you use your phone. A travel pass lowers that: $40 for 7 days in the US, $50 for 14 days in Europe. For data alone, a travel eSIM is cheaper still: $11.99 USD (about $16.87 CAD) for 7 days in the US with 1.5 GB a day, and your Koodo number stays on for calls and texts.
Koodo prices are in Canadian dollars, as listed on Koodo's Easy Roam page on 20 October 2026. Our prices are in US dollars, with CAD in brackets at 1 USD = 1.4074 CAD (European Central Bank rate, 19 October 2026); your card's rate may differ slightly.
Koodo Easy Roam: what it costs and how it starts
| US | International | |
|---|---|---|
| Daily price | $16 a day | $18 a day |
| What you get | Your plan's data, talk and text; calls to Canada and the US included | Your plan's data, talk and text; calls to Canada and the country you are in included |
| Where | US mainland, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands | Eligible destinations listed by Koodo |
What starts the fee. Easy Roam switches on "when you make or answer a call, send a text or use data", and you pay only for the days you use your phone. A background app sync counts as using data, so if you use a travel eSIM, turn data roaming off on the Koodo line.
The fine print, from Koodo's page: Easy Roam doesn't work on cruise ships, planes or other satellite networks (pay-per-use rates apply there), each phone number must add it separately, only monthly plans can use it outside North America, and Koodo calls it "a pay-per-use feature subject to change without notice".

A US trip: Koodo or a US eSIM
| Trip | Easy Roam | Koodo USA pass | Our US eSIM |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $48 | $25 | $7.99 USD (β $11.25 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
| 7 days | $112 | $40 | $11.99 USD (β $16.87 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
| 14 days | $224 | $60 | $17.99 USD (β $25.32 CAD), 15-day plan |
| 30 days, snowbird month | Up to $480 (C$) before any bill-cycle cap | Global 30-day, $125 | $23.99 USD (β $33.76 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
Koodo's Easy Roam page doesn't publish a bill-cycle cap. Telus, Koodo's parent company, caps Easy Roam at $350 in the US per bill cycle, so check your own cap in your Koodo account. Even at $350, a month on Easy Roam costs far more than the Global 30-day pass or a US eSIM.
For a winter in Florida or Arizona, a 30-day US eSIM each month is the cheapest way to keep data on, and the 15-day unlimited plan ($27.99 USD, β $39.39 CAD) suits streaming or remote work. Koodo is the better choice for a single day across the border, or if you make a lot of ordinary phone calls.
Calls and texts with an eSIM. Our eSIM is data only. Keep the Koodo line on with data roaming off: incoming texts such as bank codes still reach your number, and WhatsApp or FaceTime handle calls over data. Making a call or sending a text on the Koodo line is what starts Easy Roam.
Europe and beyond: Koodo or a Europe eSIM
| Trip | Easy Roam International | Koodo Europe pass | Our Europe eSIM (30 countries) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 days | $126 | $50 (14-day pass) | $11.99 USD (β $16.87 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
| 14 days | $252 | $50 | $19.99 USD (β $28.13 CAD), 15-day plan |
| 30 days | Up to $540 (C$) before any bill-cycle cap | $60 | $26.99 USD (β $37.99 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
Telus caps international Easy Roam at $400 per bill cycle; Koodo doesn't publish its own cap, so check your account. Either way, Koodo's 30-day Europe pass at $60 beats Easy Roam for a long stay if you need regular calls and texts. For data, the eSIM still costs less. FAQ
How much does Koodo charge for roaming?
Easy Roam costs $16 a day in the US and $18 a day in other eligible countries, in Canadian dollars, only on days you use your phone. Travel passes start at $25 for 3 days in the US.
How do I turn on Koodo roaming?
Easy Roam turns on by itself the first time you make or answer a call, send a text or use data on a network outside Canada, as long as roaming is allowed on your line. Travel passes are added in the Koodo self-serve account before you go. Each phone number needs its own.
Can I use a Koodo phone in the US?
Yes. Koodo phones roam on US networks with Easy Roam at $16 a day, or with a USA pass from $25 for 3 days. An unlocked Koodo phone can also take a US travel eSIM for data, from $7.99 USD for 3 days.
Is the Koodo USA pass worth it?
Compared with Easy Roam, yes, for any trip of two days or more: 7 days cost $40 instead of $112. For data only, a US eSIM costs less: $11.99 USD (about $16.87 CAD) for 7 days.
Does Koodo Easy Roam work on a cruise?
No. Koodo says Easy Roam doesn't apply on cruise ships, planes or other satellite networks, where pay-per-use rates apply. Read eSIM for a cruise for what works in port and at sea.
