Telus Easy Roam costs $16 a day in the US and $18 a day in other countries (CAD), charged only on the days you use your phone. A week in Florida or New York on Easy Roam is $112, and Telus caps the US fee per bill cycle. A Telus travel pass cuts that: the 7-day USA pass is $40. For data alone, a US eSIM is cheaper again: $11.99 USD (about $16.87 CAD) for 7 days with 1.5 GB a day, while your Telus number stays on for calls and texts.
Prices below are in Canadian dollars for Telus and US dollars for our eSIM, with CAD in brackets at 1 USD = 1.4074 CAD (European Central Bank rate, 19 October 2026). Your card's rate may differ slightly.
What Telus Easy Roam costs
Telus's own site blocks automated checks, so these prices come from Telus listings by others, cross-checked against Koodo's Easy Roam page, which we read directly on 20 October 2026. Koodo is Telus's sister brand, sells the same Easy Roam, and lists the same $16 US and $18 international daily rates and the same USA pass prices.
| Option | Price (CAD) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Easy Roam US | $16 a day | Your plan's talk, text and data in the US. Capped per bill cycle ($350, per Hotwire Toronto, a Telus retailer, September 2026) |
| Easy Roam International | $18 a day | Your plan's talk, text and data in eligible countries. Capped per bill cycle ($400, same source) |
| USA Travel Pass | $25 for 3 days, $40 for 7 days, $60 for 14 days | Easy Roam in the US for the pass length, at no daily charge |
| Europe Travel Pass | $50 for 14 days, $60 for 30 days | Easy Roam in Europe for the pass length |
| Global Travel Pass | $100 for 14 days, $125 for 30 days | The US and 200+ destinations |
Two figures to check in the My TELUS app before you travel. Some older Telus pages still show Easy Roam US at $14 a day: Telus raised it from $12 to $14 in October 2025, and listings since September 2026 give $16, matching Koodo's own page today. And the bill-cycle cap: an earlier report put the US cap at $280, while Hotwire Toronto's September 2026 listing gives $350.
Telus also includes the US on some plans, such as its Complete Explore plan, so check your plan in the My TELUS app before you buy anything.
How the daily fee starts. Easy Roam is pay-per-use: making or answering a call, sending a text or using any data on the Telus line starts that day's fee. A background app refresh is enough, so if you use an eSIM for data, turn data roaming off on the Telus line.
What a US trip costs: Telus or a US eSIM
| Trip | Easy Roam US | Telus USA Travel Pass | Our US eSIM |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $48 | $25 | $7.99 USD (≈ $11.25 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
| 7 days | $112 | $40 | $11.99 USD (≈ $16.87 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
| 14 days | $224 | $60 | $17.99 USD (≈ $25.32 CAD), 15-day plan |
| 30 days | Up to the bill cap ($350 per the September 2026 listing) | Global 30-day pass, $125 | $23.99 USD (≈ $33.76 CAD), 1.5 GB a day |
A pass includes unlimited calls and texts as well as your plan's data; our eSIM is data only. For most trips that is fine: WhatsApp, FaceTime and other apps make calls over data, and with the Telus line left on and its data roaming off, incoming texts such as bank codes still reach your Canadian number. Making a call or sending a text on it is what starts the daily fee.
Telus is the better choice when your plan already includes the US, when you make a lot of regular phone calls, or for a single day across the border.
A snowbird winter in Florida or Arizona
For a month or more in the US, the numbers change the most. On Easy Roam alone you reach the bill cap each cycle. The Global 30-day pass is $125. Our US eSIM costs $23.99 USD (≈ $33.76 CAD) for 30 days with 1.5 GB a day, and you can buy a new one each month. If you stream or work online, the 15-day unlimited plan is $27.99 USD (≈ $39.39 CAD).
Two things to know for a long stay:
- Keep your Telus line for calls and texts if you need your Canadian number, and use the eSIM for data. Turn on Wi-Fi Calling in Canada before you leave.
- Your phone must be unlocked to take another eSIM: is my phone unlocked?
Telus abroad: Europe, Mexico and beyond
Outside the US, Easy Roam is $18 a day, and the Europe pass is $50 for 14 days or $60 for 30. For a Europe trip, compare it with our Europe eSIM: $11.99 USD (≈ $16.87 CAD) for 7 days or $19.99 USD (≈ $28.13 CAD) for 15 days, covering 30 countries. More in eSIM for Europe.
How to set up a US eSIM with a Telus phone
- Check your phone is unlocked and takes an eSIM: the 30-second check.
- Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android.
- Set the eSIM as your data line and turn data roaming off on the Telus line, so Easy Roam never starts.
- When you cross the border, switch the eSIM on. If it shows No Service, see eSIM not working abroad.
Other Canadian carriers work much the same way: see Koodo roaming, Rogers Roam Like Home, Fido roaming, Bell Roam Better and Freedom Mobile roaming, or start with will my Canadian phone work in the USA? Our US eSIM plans are all on one page.
FAQ
How much is Telus Easy Roam per day?
$16 a day in the US and $18 a day in other eligible countries, in Canadian dollars, charged only on days you use your phone, as listed since September 2026 and matching Koodo's Easy Roam page. Some older Telus pages still show $14 for the US. The fee is capped per bill cycle; check the current cap in the My TELUS app.
Is the Telus USA Travel Pass worth it?
For a trip of more than two days, yes, compared with Easy Roam: 7 days cost $40 instead of $112. For data alone, a US eSIM is cheaper still, $11.99 USD (about $16.87 CAD) for 7 days.
Does my Telus plan include the US?
Some do, such as the Complete Explore plan. Check your plan in the My TELUS app; if the US is included, you need neither Easy Roam nor an eSIM.
How do I avoid Easy Roam charges?
Turn off data roaming on your Telus line before you cross the border, and don't make or answer calls or send texts on it. Use Wi-Fi, or a travel eSIM for data, so the daily fee never starts.
What is the cheapest way to use my phone in the US from Canada?
If your plan doesn't include the US, a US eSIM for data is usually cheapest: from $7.99 USD for 3 days to $23.99 USD for 30 days, against $16 CAD a day on Easy Roam or $40 CAD for Telus's 7-day pass.
Facts checked on 20 October 2026.
