VOXI includes roaming free in only four places: Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. Everywhere else you buy a pass. In most of Europe a European Roaming Pass costs £2.60 for a day, £4.80 for two days, £15 for 8 days or £20 for 15 days, and unlocks your plan's data (up to 20 GB) with unlimited minutes and texts. In 73 destinations further afield, the USA, Turkey, Egypt and Thailand among them, a Global Roaming Pass costs £16 for 8 days or £26.60 for 15 days, with 2 GB or 4 GB of data. The UAE is on neither list, so there you pay from credit.
For a week in Spain, VOXI's European pass is fair. In the USA, the Global Roaming Pass is light on data: 2 GB for a week. That is where a travel eSIM for data, alongside your VOXI number, usually works out better.
Going to the USA? VOXI's Global Roaming Pass gives you 2 GB for 8 days, at £16. A week of US data with us, 1.5 GB a day, costs $11.99 (prices in US dollars).
What VOXI includes abroad
VOXI sorts the world into three groups, from its help pages:
- Zone A: Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. Included in every plan, no pass needed. You get your plan's data or 20 GB, whichever is less, plus unlimited minutes, texts and picture messages.
- Zone B: the rest of Europe. Every other EU country, plus Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey, Liechtenstein, the Faroe Islands and the French overseas regions. You need a European Roaming Pass.
- Further afield. 73 destinations, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Egypt, Thailand, Japan, Australia and India among them, take a Global Roaming Pass. Destinations on neither list, such as the UAE, are charged from your credit at VOXI's standard roaming rates.
Without a pass you cannot use your allowance. VOXI says that if you do not buy a pass in a pass destination, you will not be able to use your plan's minutes, texts or data, though you can still receive calls and texts.
Unlimited social media does not travel. VOXI's Unlimited Social Media, Music and Video are UK only. Abroad, every scroll and every video on those apps comes out of your general data.
VOXI's roaming passes and what they cost
| Pass | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Europe, 1 day | £2.60 | Plan data up to 20 GB, unlimited minutes and texts |
| Europe, 2 days | £4.80 | Same |
| Europe, 8 days | £15 | Same |
| Europe, 15 days | £20 | Same |
| Global, 8 days | £16 | 2 GB, 100 minutes, 100 texts |
| Global, 15 days | £26.60 | 4 GB, 200 minutes, 200 texts |
VOXI says these prices have applied since 30 May 2025. How the passes work:
- The clock starts when you buy. Each pass counts down from the date you buy it, not from first use, so buy it as close to your departure as you can.
- One at a time. For a trip longer than 15 days, you buy another pass, but only once the first has expired. VOXI's example: 16 days means a 15-day pass, then a 1-day pass.
- Buy it in your VOXI account online.
- European passes are capped at 20 GB. If your plan has more, the cap is 20 GB; if less, your plan's data. VOXI sells Data Extras, from £3, to go with a European pass.
- On the Global pass, calls you receive use your minutes. Calls and texts to the UK and within the country you are in are included; calls to a third country are charged at international rates.
How long you can roam in Europe. VOXI says that if you use your phone in its Europe zones for 62 or more days in a four-month period, and use it more there than in the UK, it will warn you. If that continues 14 days after the warning, it may charge 3p a minute for calls, 1p a text and £3.13 per GB of data.
VOXI in the USA
The USA is a Global Roaming Pass destination. As of 14 October 2026, that means:
- 8 days for £16: 2 GB of data, 100 minutes and 100 texts.
- 15 days for £26.60: 4 GB of data, 200 minutes and 200 texts.
VOXI lists only these two passes for the USA: there is no day pass. The minutes are generous: 100 minutes covers a lot of calls home. The data is not. 2 GB over a week is about 280 MB a day, enough for messages and the odd map, but not for navigating a road trip, streaming in the car or backing up holiday photos. And since unlimited social media does not apply abroad, your social apps come out of those 2 GB.
What a typical trip costs on VOXI
Using VOXI's own prices as of 14 October 2026:
- A week in Spain: the 8-day European pass, £15, with your plan's data up to 20 GB.
- A long weekend in Paris: two 2-day passes, £9.60, bought one after the other. Or a 1-day pass per day at £2.60.
- A week in New York or Florida: the 8-day Global pass, £16 for 2 GB.
- Two weeks in the USA: the 15-day Global pass, £26.60 for 4 GB.
- Two weeks in Turkey: the 15-day Global pass, £26.60 for 4 GB.
- A week in Dubai: no pass. You pay from credit at VOXI's standard roaming rates, so use Wi-Fi or another way to get data.
- Three weeks in Thailand: a 15-day pass, then an 8-day pass once it expires, £42.60 for 6 GB.
When a travel eSIM is cheaper than VOXI
For a few days in Europe with a big VOXI plan, the European pass is simple and fair. A travel eSIM tends to win when:
- You are going to the USA or elsewhere on the Global list. 2 GB for 8 days or 4 GB for 15 days is little data for the money. A data plan sized for your trip usually gives you far more for a similar spend.
- Your destination is on no VOXI list. The UAE is the obvious one: no pass, so every megabyte comes from credit.
- You use social media heavily. It is free at home on VOXI but counts against your data abroad.
- The trip is longer than 15 days. Passes cannot overlap, so a long trip means buying and timing pass after pass.
- You visit several regions. A European pass does not cover Turkey or Morocco, and a Global pass does not cover Europe.
A travel eSIM needs a phone that takes an eSIM and is not locked to a network: check yours in 30 seconds. VOXI says most phones it sells are unlocked, and Apple, Google, OnePlus, Oppo and Xiaomi phones from VOXI always are. For how the two approaches bill you in general, see travel eSIM vs international roaming.
How to use VOXI and a travel eSIM together
You can keep your VOXI number and let a travel eSIM carry your data. VOXI offers eSIM itself, and says a VOXI eSIM works abroad like a physical SIM, as long as you activated it in the UK before you travel.
- Install the travel eSIM at home, on Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android.
- When you land, set the eSIM as the line for mobile data and turn on data roaming for the eSIM only.
- Turn data roaming off for your VOXI line, so it never uses data from credit.
- Without a pass, VOXI says your line can still receive calls and texts, so bank codes reach you. If you want to call on your VOXI number too, a Global pass adds the minutes.
- Call home on WhatsApp, FaceTime or Google Meet over the eSIM's data.
Going to Turkey? Buy and install your travel eSIM at home before you fly. Turkey has restricted some travel eSIM providers' apps and websites, so downloading one on arrival can fail. Our Turkey, Egypt and Europe pages compare the plans.

No. VOXI says Unlimited Social Media, Music and Video are UK only. Abroad, those apps use your plan's general data, which on a European pass is capped at 20 GB.
When should I buy a VOXI roaming pass?
As close to your trip as you can, in your VOXI account. VOXI's passes count down from the day you buy them, not from first use, and you cannot buy a second pass until the first has expired.
