Is this the right plan for your route?
This plan is made for a trip that takes in Cambodia or Laos alongside their neighbors: Bangkok to Siem Reap, the Mekong into Laos, or the length of Vietnam and on into Cambodia. One install covers the whole loop.
If your route skips both Cambodia and Laos, compare it with Global (75 countries), which covers the other six and much of the world besides; the prices are close. If you stay in one country, its own page is usually the best value: see Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore or Cambodia. Vietnam has no plan of its own, so this bundle is often its cheapest daily option.
Which plan fits your trip
- Daily data, 0.6 GB or 1.5 GB a day for 3, 5, 7 or 15 days. 0.6 GB a day covers maps, messages, ride-hailing and payments; 1.5 GB adds photos, video calls and some streaming. After the day's allowance, speed drops until it resets.
- A one-day plan with 0.6 GB, for a layover in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
Your allowance is shared across every country on the list: no separate quota per country. See fixed, daily or unlimited for how each type behaves.
Crossing borders
Your phone joins a local partner network when you cross, with nothing to change. Data roaming must stay on for the eSIM line. Signal can drop for a while at remote land crossings, on long ferry and boat rides and in the mountains of northern Laos and Vietnam, so save your tickets, your hotel address and an offline map before you set off. Land crossings in the region can close at short notice: check the one you plan to use before you travel.
Before you fly
- Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked: the 30-second check.
- Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android.
- When you land, switch data roaming on for the eSIM line only.
Networks in Southeast Asia
The plan connects to a local partner network in each covered country, so data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. Coverage is strong in the cities and along the main tourist routes; islands, river trips and mountain roads can drop the signal on any network. How to install your eSIM
Install it at home before you fly, then switch it on when you land.
Check your phone
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked. Most phones from the last few years do.
Scan the QR code
Scan the code from your email while you still have Wi-Fi at home. It takes about two minutes.
Switch on when you land
Turn on the eSIM line and data roaming for it. Keep your usual SIM for calls and texts if you like.
Southeast Asia eSIM questions
Which countries does the Southeast Asia plan cover?
Eight: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Myanmar, Brunei and Timor-Leste are not on the list.
Should I pick Southeast Asia or Global 75?
Pick Southeast Asia if your route includes Cambodia or Laos: Global (75 countries) does not cover them. If it does not, compare both: Global 75 also covers the other six, and its prices are close.
Is an eSIM cheaper than my own carrier's roaming in Southeast Asia?
Usually, by a wide margin. UK, US and Australian carriers typically charge a daily pass for each day you use your phone abroad, and over a week those passes cost several times more than a plan here. Check your own plan's roaming terms to compare.
Do I need a new eSIM in each country?
No. One install covers every country on the list. Your phone joins a local partner network automatically when you cross a border.
Will I keep my phone number?
Yes. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and the eSIM carries your mobile data. Keep data roaming off on your usual SIM to avoid roaming fees from home.
When does the plan start counting days?
On most plans the days start when the eSIM first connects to a network in a covered country, not when you install it. The plan details say how yours works.
