Slush brings founders and investors to Helsinki in the darkest weeks of the year. The main event lasts two days, but most people's calendars fill up with side events across the city before and after. Here is how to get there and keep your phone working the whole time.

From the airport to the venue
Helsinki Airport (HEL) is in Vantaa, north of the city. Messukeskus is in Pasila, next to one of Helsinki's main rail stations.
- Train. Local trains run from the airport station, under the terminal, to Pasila in about 25 to 30 minutes. The venue is a short walk from the station. Buy your ticket in the official transit app or at a ticket machine before boarding, and make sure it covers the airport zone.
- Taxi or ride-hailing. Taxis wait outside arrivals, and ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Bolt operate in Helsinki. The ride to Pasila usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
- From central Helsinki. Pasila is a few minutes by train or tram from the city center, so a hotel downtown works well.
November in Helsinki is cold and dark, often below freezing with only a few hours of daylight. Have your maps and transit app working before you step outside the terminal.
Staying connected
The local networks
Finland's main mobile networks are Elisa, Telia and DNA. Coverage in Helsinki is very good, including on trains and in the metro. A travel eSIM connects to a local partner network.
Venue Wi-Fi will be busy
Slush is built around meetings: founders and investors book back-to-back slots, and plans change by message all day. Venue Wi-Fi shared by thousands of people can slow down at peak times. Your own mobile data keeps the meeting app, your calendar and your messages working when it matters.
Hotspotting a laptop
If you need to show a demo or join a call between meetings, hotspot your laptop from your phone. Pause cloud backups and automatic updates on the laptop first, and keep the phone charging while it shares. For a demo-heavy trip, choose a plan with room to spare: see fixed, daily or unlimited data.
Bring a power bank
Cold weather drains phone batteries faster, and Slush days often run into evening side events. Carry a charged power bank, and keep your phone in an inside pocket when you are outdoors.
Install before you fly
- Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked: the 30-second check.
- Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android.
- When you land, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line only, and keep it off on your home SIM.
Which coverage fits
Finland is part of our Europe region, which covers 30 countries with one eSIM, including Sweden, Estonia, Denmark and Germany. That suits a Slush trip that adds a ferry to Tallinn or a stop in Stockholm. Norway is not part of the region, so add a separate plan if your trip goes there. More on how it works: eSIM for Europe.
If you have an EU mobile plan, it may already roam in Finland at domestic rates. Check your fair-use limit first: travel eSIM vs international roaming.
Compare our Europe eSIM plans and install one before you fly.
