Buying a SIM card after arrivals
SIM card vending machines stand in baggage reclaim in both the North and South terminals and work 24 hours a day, with cards from EE, Three, Vodafone and Lycamobile. WHSmith shops in the arrivals halls of both terminals also sell SIM cards (EE, Three, Lebara) and open from 6am to 10pm. Prices run from about £20 to £45, for example about £25 for 50 GB over 30 days on Three (checked October 2026). Bring your passport and an unlocked phone.
eSIM plans for United Kingdom
Install one at home before you fly and you are online when the wheels touch down, with no queue at a SIM counter.
Mobile networks in United Kingdom
The UK's main mobile networks are EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. Vodafone and Three merged into VodafoneThree in 2025 and still run under their own brands while their networks are combined. A travel eSIM connects to one of them as a roaming partner, which is why data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. The partner network can differ from plan to plan, so check the plan details, or ask us at support@esimlounge.com before you buy.
