Saily eSIM review: prices, limits and the security extras

Prices checked on Saily's own website on 9 October 2026, in US dollars.

Saily is the travel eSIM made by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. It arrived in 2024 and grew fast, helped by a security angle no other big eSIM brand offers: ad blocking, web protection and a virtual location built into the app. We checked its prices, plan rules and refund terms to see how it stacks up.

The short version: Saily is a polished app with fair prices in many countries, real extras for privacy-minded travelers, and a Europe plan that includes the UK, Switzerland and Turkey. Its Europe and US prices are on the high side, unlimited plans slow down after 5 GB a day, and a plan has to be activated within 30 days of purchase.

What Saily is

Saily is built by Nord Security; its apps are published by Nord Security and NordVPN S.A. Depending on where you live, you buy from a Saily company in Lithuania, Australia or the United States. Everything is managed in its iOS and Android apps.

Plans and prices

Saily sells fixed data plans for single countries, regions and the world, unlimited plans, shared plans you can split with up to four travel companions, cruise plans, and a subscription called Saily Ultra.

Destination Fixed data Unlimited
Japan 5 GB, 30 days: $10.99 5 days $18.99, up to 30 days $71.99
Europe (35 countries) 10 GB, 30 days: $35.99 sold, prices vary by length
Thailand 5 GB, 30 days: $7.99 sold, prices vary by length
United States 5 GB, 30 days: $13.99. 1 GB, 7 days: $3.99 5 to 30 days
Global (121 countries) 1 GB, 7 days: $8.99. 5 GB, 60 days: $33.99 none listed

Purchases earn about 3% back as Saily credits to spend on later plans.

The unlimited plans

Saily's unlimited plans give you 5 GB a day at full speed, then keep you online at up to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. 5 GB a day is more than most travelers use, so in practice they behave like true unlimited for normal phone use. Japan's unlimited plans are sold in 5-day steps.

Coverage

The Europe plan covers 35 countries, and Saily lists the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Turkey among them. The global plan covers 121 countries, fewer than some global plans from other brands, so check your route against the list.

Using it

  • When the plan starts: install the eSIM before you go, and it starts working when you land in a covered country. You must install and activate it within 30 days of purchase.
  • Top-ups: you can add more data in the app.
  • Hotspot: sharing your connection with a laptop or another device is supported.
  • Phone number: plans are data only, but Saily sells an optional US +1 number from $0.99 a month, with call and text add-ons.

The security extras

This is where Saily stands apart. The app includes an ad blocker, web protection that blocks known dangerous sites, and a virtual location that lets you appear to browse from another country, all working over your Saily data. If you already rely on a VPN abroad, this may let you skip running two apps.

App, ratings and payment

Saily's app scores 4.7 on the App Store (about 13,000 ratings in the US) and 4.5 on Google Play (about 98,000 reviews) when we checked.

Support and refunds

Support is by chat in the app, around the clock. Refund rules:

  • If the eSIM has not been installed or the plan not activated, you can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
  • Once activated, a full refund is not guaranteed. Saily may refund for quality problems on its side, or if more than 99% of the data is unused.

The catches

  • Unlimited plans slow to 1 Mbps after 5 GB a day.
  • Plans must be activated within 30 days of purchase.
  • Europe and US fixed plans cost more than some rivals.
  • The global plan covers 121 countries.
  • Data only, unless you pay for the US number.

How it compares with our plans

Our own plans, checked on 11 October 2026. The plan cards on each destination page show our current prices.

  • Japan: Saily's 5 GB for 30 days at $10.99 is close in price to our Japan daily plan of 1.5 GB a day for 7 days (10.5 GB in total). For 5 days of unlimited data, ours cost less than Saily's $18.99.
  • Europe, a month: Saily's 10 GB for 30 days is $35.99. Our Europe plan of 1.5 GB a day for 30 days cost less, across 30 countries including the UK and Switzerland but not Turkey.
  • United States: Saily's 5 GB for 30 days is $13.99. In the United States, our 1.5 GB a day over 7 days cost less than that, and our 7 days of unlimited data cost more.
  • Thailand: Saily's 5 GB for $7.99 is good value for light use; our Thailand plans start with a single day, and our week of 1.5 GB a day cost a little less than that $7.99.

Who Saily suits

Saily suits travelers who want privacy and ad blocking built in, people traveling as a group who can share one plan, and anyone heading to Europe including Turkey. If price matters most for Europe or the US, compare first. Other reviews: Airalo, Holafly and Nomad.
