Prices checked on Holafly's own website on 9 October 2026, in US dollars.
Holafly built its name on one idea: unlimited data, so you never count megabytes on a trip. It sells eSIMs for around 200 destinations, says it has sold more than 10 million, and is one of the most advertised brands in travel eSIMs. We checked what "unlimited" means in its terms, what it costs, and who gets good value from it.
The short version: Holafly is simple and genuinely unlimited for normal phone use, with friendly support and a long refund window. You pay for that simplicity: a week costs $27.50 almost everywhere, hotspot sharing is capped at 1 GB a day, and you cannot top up.
What Holafly is
Holafly started in Spain in 2017 or 2018 (sources differ), and today sells through Holafly Limited, a company registered in Ireland. It has an app for iOS and Android where you buy, install and manage the eSIM and chat with support.
Plans and prices
Holafly's trip plans are unlimited data only, sold by the number of days. In most destinations the price is the same:
| Days | Japan, Thailand, United States | Europe (33 countries) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $11.90 | $11.90 |
| 5 days | $20.50 | $20.50 |
| 7 days | $27.50 | $27.50 |
| 10 days | $36.50 | $37.50 |
| 15 days | $50.50 | $51.50 |
| 30 days | $73.90 | $76.50 |
Holafly also sells monthly subscriptions for frequent travelers, priced on its site in euros: Unlimited at €59.95 a month across 160+ destinations, with unlimited hotspot and a number, and Light with 25 GB at €45.95 a month. Both renew every 30 days until you cancel.
What "unlimited" means
Holafly does not publish a daily amount after which it slows you down. Its terms say network operators may apply a fair-use policy that reduces speed "for no more than one (1) day", resetting the next day. For maps, messaging, social media and normal browsing, most travelers will not notice. Heavy streaming every day is where you might.
The hotspot cap
On trip plans you can share 1 GB a day from your phone to a laptop or another phone, so a 7-day plan includes up to 7 GB of shared data. If you plan to work from a laptop on your phone's connection, that cap matters more than the "unlimited" label.
Coverage
The Europe plan covers 33 countries, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. Turkey is not included; Holafly sells it as a separate destination. Holafly uses 5G where the local network offers it, otherwise 4G.
Using it
- When the plan starts: when you arrive and first connect to a local network with data roaming on, not when you install it. A day is 24 hours from that moment.
- No top-ups: Holafly says top-ups are no longer available. If you need more days, you buy a new eSIM.
- Backup data: every installed eSIM keeps 1 GB a month of backup data, a useful safety net.
- Phone number: trip plans are data only. Only the Unlimited subscription bought since November 2025 includes a US, UK or Canadian number, for incoming texts and internet calls.
- Limits: you cannot reinstall or move an installed eSIM to another phone, and one stay in a destination is limited to 90 days in a row.
App, ratings and payment
Holafly scores well with travelers: 4.7 on Google Play (47,400 reviews) and 4.7 on Trustpilot from more than 114,000 reviews when we checked, though Trustpilot shows a notice that the profile is under review for past breaches of its guidelines. You pay by card or other methods offered at checkout.
Support and refunds
Support is available 24/7 by WhatsApp, email and chat. The refund policy is one of the more generous ones:
- You have up to 6 months to ask for a refund.
- An eSIM you have not activated, bought on Holafly's site or app, is refunded in full.
- If your phone turns out to be incompatible or locked and you have not scanned the QR code, you get a full refund with proof.
- Connection problems caused by Holafly or the network can be refunded in full or in part, but you need to contact support during the trip.
- Otherwise, refunds are partial, based on data used, minus a $3.50 fee.
The catches
- A week costs $27.50 whether you use 2 GB or 20.
- Hotspot sharing is capped at 1 GB a day on trip plans.
- No top-ups: running out of days means a new eSIM.
- No published fair-use threshold, so you cannot know in advance when speed drops.
- Europe leaves out Turkey.
Is unlimited worth it?
It depends on how much you use. A typical traveler using maps, messaging and photos needs around 0.5 to 1.5 GB a day. At that level, a fixed or daily plan usually costs far less than unlimited. Unlimited makes sense if you stream video, take many video calls, or simply do not want to think about data.
For comparison, our own plans, checked on 11 October 2026. The plan cards on each destination page show our current prices.
- A week of unlimited data: ours cost less than Holafly's $27.50 in Japan, the United States and across Europe (30 countries, including the UK and Switzerland).
- Two weeks of unlimited data: our 15-day unlimited plans in Japan, the United States, Europe and Thailand cost less than Holafly's $50.50 and $51.50.
- A week of steady use instead: our 1.5 GB a day for 7 days cost less than half of Holafly's week in Japan, Europe, the United States and Thailand.
Our plans also carry a fair-use limit, which each plan's details state. Holafly is better if you want a 30-day unlimited plan, a Europe plan with Norway and Iceland, or a monthly subscription that follows you everywhere. See fixed, daily or unlimited for how to size a plan.
Who Holafly suits
Holafly suits heavy users who want one price, no counting, and strong 24/7 support, especially on trips of two weeks or more. If you use a normal amount of data, or need to share a lot of it with a laptop, compare first. Other reviews: Airalo, Nomad and Saily.
