Free Wi-Fi at BKK

The free network is AOT Airport Free Wi-Fi by NT. Select it, enter your email, tick Accept Terms and Conditions and tap OK. Each session lasts 60 minutes. Airports of Thailand advises connecting only to this official network and not to look-alike networks.

Buying a SIM card after arrivals

All three Thai operators sell tourist SIM cards in international arrivals. True has booths in the visa on arrival area, at baggage claim 8, 11 to 12 and 17, and on the 2nd floor after customs near exits B and C. dtac has counters at exits 7 and 9 and at several baggage claim belts, most open around the clock. AIS sells in the arrivals hall near exit 6. AIS's Traveller SIM costs 299 baht for 15 GB over 8 days (checked October 2026). Bring your passport: True sells one SIM per passport.

eSIM plans for Thailand

Install one at home before you fly and you are online when the wheels touch down, with no queue at a SIM counter.

Mobile networks in Thailand

Thailand's two main mobile operators are AIS and True, which merged with dtac. Both cover Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and the main islands well. A travel eSIM connects to one of them as a roaming partner, which is why data roaming must be on for the eSIM line. The partner network can differ from plan to plan, so check the plan details, or ask us at support@esimlounge.com before you buy.

Tips for staying connected

  • Carry some baht: a 2026 guide says most AIS kiosks take cash only.
