What to know about the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Often listed as an eSIM phone elsewhere, but Samsung's own spec pages show nano-SIM only, and Samsung US files it under "Unlocked Dual Physical SIM devices". The Galaxy A54 that followed it has eSIM in Europe. To get data abroad, see what to do when your phone has no eSIM.

Check your own Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Two minutes on the phone itself settles it, whichever version you have.

  1. Dial *#06#

Open the phone app and dial *#06#. If a number labelled EID appears, your phone supports eSIM.

  2. On a Samsung Galaxy

Go to Settings, then Connections, then SIM manager. If you can add an eSIM, it supports eSIM.

  3. Check it is unlocked

A phone bought from a carrier on contract may be locked to it. Ask your carrier, or look for a Carrier Lock line in your settings that says No SIM restrictions.
